Two New PhD Students
Arctic Domus welcomes Catherine Munro and Paula Schiefer, who are two new PhD Students in the project
We are pleased to welcome two new PhD students to our research group. Catherine Munro, who will be starting with Arctic Domus in January, will be researching the history of domestication of a special northern breed of horse used on the Shetland Islands. She will examine the history of the classification of the ‘breed’ as well as their role in colonization across the Arctic. Paula Schiefer will be starting in October 2014. Her topic is still open but submitted an application to work with a First Nation community in Canada. In her proposal she specifically addressed the Yukon-Alaska region.
